Golf Course Design and
Renovation
An inherent ability to understand topography, art,
physical and natural symmetry within nature, and the knowledge of the
construction techniques necessary to blend these attributes together has given SGS principle Lee Singletary the
opportunity to combine his playing skills and overall golf background to offer
golf course design services to the industry in a most unique way.

Lee's design philosophy embraces an appreciation for the traditional, coupled
with original innovation and creativity when applicable. The styles of great
architects such as Donald Ross, Dr. Alister Mackenzie, C. B. McDonald, A. W.
Tillinghast and Perry Maxwell along with present day designers Fazio, Dye and
Coore have played a major role in the shaping of Lee's design ideas.

Quality design and reasonable maintenance can be accomplished in harmony, as
shown by many of the great courses built in the first half of this century which
are today easily maintained. Lee strives to take advantage of his playing
experiences, maintenance background, golf professional experience, and overall
management capabilities to personally provide comprehensive design and
construction management of all projects.
The golf course should always reflect
the characteristics of the piece of ground on which it is laid out.
Natural features should be enhanced and emphasized when available...never
artificially created when unnecessary. The course should challenge, yet
not overwhelm the player. Flexibility, versatility, and variety should be
strived for to provide a potential venue for a championship competition as
well as an enjoyable outing for the less accomplished player." - Lee
